JAMES D. PHAM
Attorney at Law
James D. Pham is a nationally-recognized Immigration Attorney specializing in removal defense, high-stakes bond release hearings, asylum cases, cancellation of removal hearings, adjustment of status, naturalizations and appeals to the USCIS, Board of Immigration Appeals, Fifth Circuit of Appeals, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Pham’s cases have involved high-profile clients prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office and local District Attorney’s Offices for mail fraud, tax evasion, terrorism, drug trafficking, drug possession, alien smuggling, sexual assault, sexual battery, domestic violence, DUIs and more. Mr. Pham has been successful in obtaining bond and parole releases for a majority of his clients detained in maximum security federal detention facilities across the nation and has successfully defended many clients facing deportation for the most serious of crimes categorized as “Aggravated Felonies” under the Immigration and Nationality Act “INA.” Mr. Pham is also active in lobbying for more humane federal detention conditions and expediency of the USCIS process through the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
James previously served as a Community Services Commissioner for the City of Westminster, California from 2019-2021. He also served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Judge Alexander H. Williams of the Los Angeles Superior Court as a 3rd year law student and was a Summer Honors Intern with the Office of Chief Counsel for the Federal Aviation Administration during his first summer in law school. He holds a Juris Doctorate Degree from Western State College of Law in Orange County, California where he was a member of the Law Review and a Merit Scholarship recipient. James also earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Irvine. Mr. Pham is also a member of the National Eagle Scout Association “NESA” and enjoys traveling and biking outdoors.
KAREEM H. ESSAYLI
Attorney at Law
Kareem Essayli is an Associate Attorney at the JD Law Group who has passionately pursued a career in Immigration and Human Rights Law. Mr. Essayli earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine. During his time in law school, he engaged in pro bono immigration defense work at Human Rights First and the Public Law Center. As a student attorney at Chapman Law's Family Protection Clinic, Mr. Essayli assisted indigent survivors of domestic violence on an array of legal issues with practice areas ranging from Family Law to Criminal Law.
Mr. Essayli also served as a board member of the Arab American Civic Council where he helped promote the civil rights of marginalized communities. Prior to law school, he interned at the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Economic & Social Commission for Western Asia in Beirut, Lebanon. There, he assisted in campaigns to resettle Syrian refugees amid the refugee crisis. Having grown up in Orange County, graduating from high school in Lebanon, and studying at institutions abroad during his undergraduate studies, he gained firsthand knowledge of social disparities and through that knowledge, a better understanding of the world. It was through these experiences that he developed his passion for immigration law.
Mr. Essayli is fluent in Arabic. He enjoys traveling and has visited every continent excluding Antarctica.
Herleen Kaur is currently a senior at California State University, Dominguez Hills and she is pursuing a Business Administration degree in Human Resources and Management. Post graduation, she plans on attending law school. Ms. Kaur has legal and leadership experience, serving as secretary for the California State University-Dominguez Hills' Pre-law Society. Her fields of interest are Immigration and Business Law. Herleen likes to spend her time at the gym and reading.
